Hi, I'm Olukunle Owolabi

I am a Lead Engineer in Meta AI, where I build large-scale AI systems for Facebook. My work centers on the reliability and evaluation of AI agents, with papers at ACM FAccT and KDD and in journals such as Energies and Environmental Research Communications, and I received the inaugural UChicago Rising Stars in Data Science award. I have also worked on search, personalization, fraud detection and forecasting.

I hold a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University, where, as a Dean’s Fellow, I used machine learning to study power grids and other critical infrastructure. That work fueled my broader interest in the reliability of complex systems, such as large-scale computing and AI systems. I also hold an MSc in Sustainable Energy from the University of Edinburgh and a BSc in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Ibadan. Earlier at Meta, I built ML-driven infrastructure systems, and as an ML Engineer at Mindbody I led applied AI work on recommender systems and fraud detection. When I’m not working, I’m usually watching Manchester United, outdoors, or giving back in small ways.
